Marketing & Communication

Our marketing work is varied, with the objective of promoting and acting in the best interests of our members. Some examples include:
Website & business directory

A directory of all BID members, each with an individual web page to promote themselves.

Annual events programme

Events that draw people into the city centre, plus advertising to cruise liners and tour operators.

Eat & Drink Guide

Promotes all relevant hospitality businesses within the BID area.

Working with stakeholders

Partnering with Highland Council and others to create an environment where businesses flourish.

Social media

A Facebook page with 30k+ followers, plus active Instagram and TikTok, promoting BID activities and businesses.

BID Ambassador

Janice Worthing is a well-known face on the streets of Inverness, always happy to help businesses and the public.

Development

Business Development

We fulfil a number of roles, the most important being to represent and champion the Inverness business district and the businesses within it. This is done in a number of ways:

Proper waste disposal

One of the biggest attractions for gulls is easy access to food waste. To prevent this:
  • We develop and strengthen relationships with other stakeholders, especially Highland Council, working in partnership as much as possible to achieve the best outcomes.
  • We promote Inverness City Centre as a destination in its own right and aim to bring significant economic value to the business district.
  • BID is a strong voice representing the interests of members, continuously working on behalf of city centre stakeholders.
Community safety

Safe Inverness

Owen Mcmanus is our BID Senior Community Safety Co-ordinator, involved in a number of important initiatives:
Data sharing with Police Scotland

Combating anti-social behaviour such as shoplifting and drug misuse within the city centre.

Pub Watch & Best Bar None

Promoting responsible licensees throughout the night-time economy.

City Centre Task Team

Operating during busy periods to minimise anti-social behaviour and reassure retailers.
